On A Rope is a tiny hole-in-the-wall review site compared to our competitors. But to make up for it we create unique content that appeals to other climbers and outdoor enthusiasts. Our focus is on high-quality writing and images and the site was designed to be clean and inspirational for the most enjoyable reader experience.
Much of our revenue comes from affiliate links, but we always retain complete editorial independence. Our editors and gear testers live in California and climb in the High Sierra Nevadas. We love being outdoors as much as possible.
We hope you enjoy On A Rope and appreciate your readership. And we encourage feedback and often incorporate it into the site. Feel free to contact us, use the comments section below each article, and connect via social media on Twitter.
Right now the writers team is quite small, it’s just Tim. But we’re hiring, think David Foster Wallace meets you, whatever you are. That might work.
Tim is a tech, travel, and climbing writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is the author of the book “Trailer Park Olympics: all analog no digital”, and “TPO 2.0: The Odyssey”, and he wrote half a book about a Ph.D. dropout who found an alien spaceship on Mars that takes them on a magical musical adventure to alien homeworlds. The ship is a band and the lifeforms aboard are the instruments who get gigged out across theh galaxy, all for the profit of the spaceship. You can find him on Twitter. And he’s got a few songs on Soundcloud.
Also he hopes to recruit his dad to the site because he climbs more and is a great writer.
